2011 Contest Rules 1. The Inland Empire Comedy Contest™ is a weekly Saturday night comedy contest at Flappers Comedy Club in Claremont, California starting in August 2011. 2. There will ten stand-up comedians completing each Saturday. Each comedian can perform up to a seven-minute set in the eight preliminary rounds. 3. 1/2 audience vote and 1/2 individual judges votes for the winners of the weekly contest. The audience ballots will be handed out before the first comic starts. NO ballots will be handed out after the first comic goes up. Each ballot MUST have four comics voted for (1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place and 4th place). Ballots will be voided if four comics are not voted for. 4. Each Saturday night, the top four point finishers will move on to Inland Empire Comedy Contest™ quarter-finals.
5. There will be four quarter-finals. Each comedian can perform up to a eight-minute set in quarter-finals. 1/2 audience vote and 1/2 individual judges votes for the winners of the semi-finals (SEE RULE #3). The top four point finishers of each quarter-final will move on to Inland Empire Comedy Contest™ semi-finals.
6. There will be two semi-finals. Each comedian can perform up to a nine-minute set in semi-finals. 1/2 audience vote and 1/2 individual judges votes for the winners of the semi-finals (SEE RULE #3). The top four point finishers of each semi-final will move on to Inland Empire Comedy Contest™ finals. 7. The finals will be held the 15th week of the competition. Each comedian can perform up to a ten-minute set in the finals. The 1/2 audience vote and 1/2 individual judges votes for the winners of the finals (SEE RULE #3). The prize money is as follows: First Place: $500.00 |
